Lesson Tracks

There are three Lesson Tracks to choose from.  I developed these so I would better understand the goals of each student.  I can get quite excited about a student's progress and start pushing them towards more performance opportunities or more challenging pieces, when really they just want to focus on sports or science or forensics!  With the student and parents choosing a track, I know when I can "push" and when it isn't appropriate.

Track One -

"I want to take Piano Lessons for Fun"

IMPORTANT:  PRACTICE IS STILL REQUIRED!!

•Our focus in private lessons will be method books, pop/jazz music that is requested by the student, technique, scales and theory.

•Group lessons are still required.  Being able to share our music, especially when it is “fun” music, is a main goal of group lessons.

•Mandatory performances will be the Holiday Caroling Party and the Spring Studio Recital.

Track Two -

"I want to take piano lessons for fun, but I's still like to do outside performances.

IMPORTANT:  PRACTICE IS STILL REQUIRED!!

•Our focus in private lessons will be method books, pop/jazz music that is requested by the student, the “classical” music that is required by the rules of the Performance Opportunity, technique, scales and theory.

•Preparation of pieces will be on a strict schedule.  The Fall Festival piece can be used for later performances. All performance pieces must be memorized at least two weeks before performance.  The Performance Opportunity requires 2 performance-ready memorized or not memorized pieces or 3 memorized pieces.  The first pieces will be ready by late December, the second piece by late January and the third piece by late February.  IF ANY OF THESE DEADLINES ARE MISSED, the student forfeits their right to participate.  REALLY!

•Group lessons are still required.  Being able to share our music is a main goal of group lessons.

•Mandatory performances will be the Holiday Caroling Party, the WMTA Performance Opportunity and the Spring Studio Recital.

Track Three -

"Performance Track"

•Practice 5 days a week up to an hour a day will be required.

•Our focus in private lessons will be “classical” music to prepare a well-rounded program of repertoire, pop/jazz music that is requested by the student, technique, scales and theory.

•Memorization of pieces will be on a strict schedule.  The Fall Festival piece can be used for later performances. All performance pieces must be memorized at least two weeks before performance.  The Performance Opportunity requires 3 memorized pieces.  The first pieces will be memorized by late December, the second piece by late January and the third piece by late February.  IF ANY OF THESE DEADLINES ARE MISSED, the student forfeits their right to participate.  REALLY!

•Group lessons are still required.  Being able to share our music is a main goal of group lessons.

•Mandatory performances will be the Holiday Caroling Party, MMTA Festivals, the WMTA Performance Opportunity, the Spring Studio Recital and Young Musical Stars.  It is assumed that the student is interested in all outside performances that are available.
